My mark was set in a waaay distant future at a much higher number to be considered problematic. I just don't believe that day was now, with Gen VIII at not even 900 Pokémon. Tl dr I "understand" that reasoning of "one day they had to start cutting Pokémon".

And if they make another pair of games with some of the Pokémon that were cut I doubt they'll include all of the SwSh ones, because that would compromise them again to include all the Pokémon in future games, but when Gen IX comes, history will repeat.
#Pokemon sword and shield pokedex controversy tldr Patch
I seriously doubt they'll patch anything. I even received Let's Go, not only because of nostalgia, but I was like, ok, this is just a sneak peek of what's to come, and I thought they were like getting the first generation of Pokémon ready, while they finished the other 6 generations + new ones.īut we're never getting that game, because before reaching the fearsome and unconceivable number of 1000 they decided to start cutting Pokémon since now. I tolerated the slow battles, the still pixelated looking models that were recycled from the previous generation because of the promise that these models had been future proofed, that there were running animations hidden there, all of which were actually made for HD resolution, and that the next generation being on the Switch would actually give us that amazing game they wanted to create but couldn't be delivered due to 3DS technological restrictions. And with such low number of new Pokémon introduced in VI and VII, it almost felt like the two combined barely made up a, traditionally, decent generation. But Gen VII being on the 3DS I didn't feel that much of a jump between those two generations, as I felt for example with Gen IV to V on the Nintendo DS. There was no turning back, things just would get better and better each time. When Gen VI came out for the 3DS, I was so excited, because despite all its flaws, it was in 3D, I just couldn't stop thinking how amazing the future of Pokémon would look like. They're still a lot to some (not to me tbh), but anyways, I think, at least personally, is that, yeah, if they start cutting Pokémon now, or in two years, or five, or ten, the reaction would be equally negative, but I just wanted to have at least 1 great, HD game with all the Pokémon before that day happened. That would be a number that I would say, ok, maybe they're too much already.īut I seriously doubt that even with Gen VIII they'll hit 900. This is what everybody keeps saying, and I agree if we were talking about 1500+ Pokémon without counting alternative forms.
